Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) on Monday claimed to have arrested some 24 suspects and recovered huge cache of weapons and explosive materials during search operation in Mehmoodabad and Pak colony areas.

According to the officials, the personnel of paramilitary rangers initiated door-to-door search in Mehmoodabad no 2 on early morning and later extended the same to Pak colony. They said the search operation continued for seven hours that led the arrests of some 17 suspects from Mehmoodabad and seven suspects from Pak colony.

They said the law enforcers had also recovered huge cache of weapons, a snatched vehicle and explosive material during search operation. They said some notorious criminals and political workers were among the detained persons, who were shifted to unknown place for interrogation.

This unexpected search operation charged the emotions of the inhabitants, who took to streets and staged protest demonstration against the attitude of rangers personnel. The protesters alleged the law enforcers for traumatising the inhabitants through their misbehaviour. The protesters also burnt tyres and blocked main artery to express resentment against the law enforcers that led to severe gridlocks for hours. Later, the protesters dispersed peacefully. No arrest was made during the protest demonstration.
